Why Do You Need to Use PNG File Format in Your Website Creation?
The benefits of incorporating PNG images in web designing over various other image formats ;for instance, GIF and JPEG; the file format helps to make good and spectacular images that will wow your customersThe PNG file format was introduced some time ago; it was brought out for consumers in the mid 90's to cover the drawbacks of the traditional GIF file type. However, it failed to create ripples because the early browsers were not designed to support the advanced features of PNG so website designers and creators had to incorporate it restrictedly. One of the primary hurdles that marred the features of PNG was with Microsoft's flagship product, Internet Explorer which was the most well known and widely used browsers of that period; IE had very little provision for PNG support which equated to the fact that the format could only be used in the most restricted way. However, things metamorphosed with the introduction of IE7; this fresh product from Microsoft has helped in increasing the usability of PNGs. So here is why at three reasons why PNG is one of the most innovative image formats to be introduced so far:
It is possible to create see through images or alpha transparency: When you pitch GIF against PNG, will notice that A definitive difference in the two formats is that you you will be restricted to saving a specific color transparently through the use of GIF this equates to the fact that you can get the color whether opaque or transparent with just transparency in between; however, with PNG, you get a specific advantage; because the format can be used to produce semi transparency. This simply means that you can save a PNG picture with a soft drop shadow and then use it against a background of your choice. You can also use the image as a watermark or a gradient background. The file type allows for the gradual fading of hues from entirely opaque to absolutely transparent, exposing the webpage that lies in the background
They look spectacular: It is a well known fact that PNG images give you extreme flexibility also; there are numerous other benefits to using this format. For example, if you choose a JPG image, you lose some of the data from the original file every time the file is saved, so after a while, you will be able to view a distinct decline in the finesse of the images. Even if, this concern has been solved in in the file type and you will be able to save the pictures without losing any details, GIF only allows for a limited 256 color palette, which imparts it quite useless if you are going to save a snap shot. On the other hand, with PNG, you could get the best attributes of the two file types; you will be provided a full color display similar to JPEG images and it also provides managed color palette as seen in GIF files. Also the storage of the file is without loss so the image stays put even if you save the file several times.
PNG allows for self optimization: One of the hurdles that web designers face frequently is the anomaly due to which the brightness and the contrast ratio of the screen has to be regulated to see the the display properly; this problem occurs due to the difference in the Gamma setting used for the different monitors. Gamma setting is a technology that helps to spread the luminance across the display surface. However, diverse operating systems use varying Gamma settings. Hence, a picture that is color corrected specifically for Windows may appear abnormal in Mac. Again, in this situation the flexible PNG picture format can help you out, in PNG, you can save the files with with a Gamma correction feature that is innate so regardless of the operating system; the Gamma settings will be realigned to display an image with the perfect ratios of contrast as well as brightness.
